DEFINITE ARTICLE

Whilst I've been forced to lie in my bed with this
bloody bad back (which is getting very very tedious)
I've been watching some of my DVD's because
there's only so much of
Loose Women deciding to
Deal Or No Deal during This Morning
while
Escaping To The Country
one can take!

Of course there's
Wimbledon at the moment
as well (which is handy live weather forecast
as it's only up the road!) but with
the rain it's all repeats...

One of the DVD's I've been watching is
Eddie Izzard's live boxset. He is hilarious,
I've seen all of these shows at least five
time each but they still crack me up.

One of my favourite lines is from "Definite Article".
He's talking about a tube ticket inspector
who caught Eddie without a fare: "He'll be
promoted in the underground system.
He'll get it his own darkness."

Funny enough I have a bit of Claim To Fame
when it comes to Eddie.
KB knew him in the
80's when they used to perform together in
Covent Garden (Eddie started as a street
performer) and one day after their "show"
they went to a Pizza Hut and decided to
send me a paper placemat from their table.

Why? Who knows!

They wrote a message, my name and address
in Finland (I'd gone back there for a while),
stuck a stamp on it and sent it.

And to everyone's amazement it actually
arrived! It had Eddie's signature on it,
I didn't think anything of it back then
of course and put it in the bin.

If I had known... it would've been one
of the weirder Eddie collectables
on Ebay no doubt!

SIOUXSIE UPDATE

Siouxsie's cancer lump on her left
shoulder is getting bigger by the day.

She's still walking OK, with a slight limp
but a trip out to the back garden for
a wee is enough to tire her, she's quite
happy to go and lie down
for hours after that.

THE LONGEST DAY

Today is the longest day
of the year.

Happy
Juhannus!

The bonfires will be lit on Friday
(the Juhannus eve) to ward of the evil
spirits and depending on the weather
we're hoping to have a little
"kokko" of our own.

Talking about longest days, I've had the longest
week
of my life with this bloody back!
There's only so much daytime
television one can watch!

I made the mistake of not lying down and
resting at all on Tuesday as I felt marginally
better and because of that yesterday was agony,
after we'd been to the vet with Siouxsie
I had to lie in bed for the rest of the day.
I was in pain all last night as well,
this is getting very very tedious...

HIP HIP
HOORAY!

Our friends Tero and Riitta got hitched
this morning at the Helsinki
register office.

It was so low key it didn't even make it
onto the "low key weddings" scale - we got
a txt message this morning saying
they'd done it. No quests, no fuss and
they were in fact going back to
work afterwards! The nutters!

Tero in the top photo with KB and Riitta in
the bottom photo, both taken at the
2003 Ilosaarirock festival,
we were all working there.

They're lovely people and make
a great couple. I'm really
really happy for them!

Lots of love and happiness
to your both!

IT WAS BOUND
TO HAPPEN

I suppose it was only a matter of time
and quite frankly I'm suprised it's
taken this long.

The Finns are famous for their love of
the black stuff. No, not
Guinness
but
salmiakki.

They also love making the strangest
combinations with chocolate (Finnish
chocolate is the best in the world)
and the latest one is choc with
creamy Salmiakki filling.

Heavy sent KB a care package and in it was
a nice surprise for me as well (thanks Heavy!),
a slab of the new flavour.

Apparently it's a big hit in Finland and I
must admit I thought it was going to be
awful as I'm not a great fan of sweet'n'sour
things but...it's not bad!

As an idea it sounds terrible but they've
managed to blend just the right amount
of salmiakki in without it
being overpowering.

YOU ARE...

...having a laugh, right?
